Design Brief

‘The Heart of the Matter’ is a special collaboration with a repeat client who, having renovated with SGDI several times prior, finally found the house to make home forever. The focus was on creating a place where friends and family can frequently visit and comfortably stay. The sophisticated home centers around a great room integrated for entertaining. Sprawling across its entire west side, this main area of the house incorporates an indoor-outdoor concept that flows onto a backyard pool deck. At one end of the expansive space, overlooking the pool, is a serene sun-soaked living room area; providing quiet retreat to those who might desire a moment away from the bustling entertainment. The beautiful space offers more intimate conversation, the invitation to read a book or to curl up for family movie night… but what would a cozy space be without its coveted hearth?  Here Solus’ concrete mantel provides not only a focal point, but an allusion to history; its aged façade implying it has stood for years holding multitude of stories to tell. This picture-perfect house is the product of careful listening, knowledge of the clients’ affinity for quality details, and quite a lot of heart.
