What is covered
Defects in material and workmanship for the periods above, for the original purchaser. Where a Solus inspection finds such a defect from normal use, Solus will repair or replace the product and will supply all warranted parts free of charge. The warranty applies to domestic and commercial installations.
The customer pays for crating, shipping, handling, reinstallation labour and disposal of replaced items. Solus does not provide onsite repair, visits or service.
What is not covered
The warranty does not cover damage from improper installation, unauthorised modification, accident, misuse or poor maintenance. It does not cover changes in colour or surface texture from exposure to the weather. The most common reasons a claim is refused are:
- Transit damage not reported to Solus within 48 hours of delivery
- Installation by an uncertified or unapproved person
- A product that was never registered with Solus
- Not following the Solus installation, care and maintenance procedures
- Unauthorised modification, alteration or repair
- Water ingress from leaving the fire pit uncovered when not in use
- Using fire tables and bowls as seating
- Diagnostic, fault finding, removal and reinstallation costs
- Unauthorized removal of components prior to reporting defective operation
- Damage caused by natural weathering or abnormally corrosive environments, including sea salt corrosion, acidity, alkali attacks, and insects
- Element damage caused by fire, wind, or flooding
- Improper lifting or handling of a water feature (for example, lifting the vessel by the scupper)
- Failure to drain water features during the winter as outlined in the Care and Maintenance Guide
Concrete Characteristics
Solus concrete is a cast natural material. Surface air voids, spider web-like cracks, hairline cracks under 1/16 of an inch, veining, and minor dimples that do not affect the quality and performance of the product are normal characteristics rather than defects. Slight colour variation from a sample, natural patina, and staining from wet leaves, bird droppings, spilled drinks, or greasy food are also expected and not covered. The full list of exclusions is in the warranty documents at the bottom of this page.
Water Feature Domes & Scuppers
Brass and stainless steel will naturally patina and generally lose some of their initial lustre. Brass by its very nature will “dull out” over time and oxidize, forming natural-looking patches or spots of browns, greens, and blues. Because the domes are “spun” during manufacturing, they will have small scratches and imperfections. These are expected and normal characteristics; small scratches and imperfections are not warrantable items.
