Industry and Alchemy

Solus Concrete is derived from a balance of nature and nurture, and it’s within this balance that beauty is found. Mixing concrete is controlled chaos - where the object is born as much from the random movements of aggregate as the careful guidance of the craftsperson. When the form is cast the artifacts of the process are literally set in stone, recorded like fossils in each piece. Whether it’s a concrete fireplace mantel, a cast concrete tile or planter, each piece has a history and each is unique.

No Ordinary Concrete

The creation of Solus Concrete is deceptively simple: a carefully developed recipe of cement, aggregate, colour, and fly ash recycled from the burning of coal, is mixed with water and cast by hand. The key ingredient, however, is the care that goes into its production. Our process is elegant, low-tech and proof that the whole can be much greater than the sum of its parts.
